Terms of Attendance

LegalTalk Africa 2026

These Terms of Attendance apply to all delegates attending LegalTalk Africa 2026 (“LTA 2026”). By registering for and attending the event, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Registration and Admission

1.1 Attendance at LTA 2026 is complimentary; however, registration is required.

1.2 Registration is subject to approval by LegalTalk Africa.

1.3 LegalTalk Africa reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to decline or cancel any registration without providing reasons.

1.4 Admission to the event is non-transferable unless expressly approved in writing by LegalTalk Africa.

2. Event Changes

2.1 LegalTalk Africa reserves the right to:

  • Amend the event programme;
  • Substitute speakers;
  • Change session topics;
  • Adjust the event schedule; and/or
  • Change the venue, format, or platform of the event (including hosting the event virtually or in hybrid format),

where reasonably necessary.

2.2 LegalTalk Africa shall not be liable for any losses or inconvenience arising from such changes.

3. Photography, Recording and Media Consent

3.1 LTA 2026 may be photographed, filmed, live-streamed, and/or otherwise recorded.

3.2 By attending the event, delegates:

  • Consent to being photographed, filmed, and recorded;
  • Grant LegalTalk Africa a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, publish, distribute, and broadcast such recordings and images for marketing, promotional, educational, and commercial purposes;
  • Waive any right to inspect or approve the finished materials; and
  • Waive any claims relating to the use of such content.

3.3 Event content, including presentations, recordings, materials, and intellectual property, remains the property of the respective speakers and/or LegalTalk Africa and may not be recorded, reproduced, or distributed without prior written consent.

4. Code of Conduct

4.1 LTA 2026 is a professional event. All delegates are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner.

4.2 Delegates agree not to:

  • Engage in harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behaviour;
  • Conduct unauthorised marketing, solicitation, or promotional activities;
  • Distribute materials without prior approval;
  • Infringe on sponsor exclusivity arrangements;
  • Record sessions without permission.

4.3 LegalTalk Africa reserves the right to remove any delegate who breaches these Terms or behaves in a manner deemed inappropriate, without liability.

5. Sponsor and Exhibitor Exclusivity

5.1 Exhibition and promotional rights are reserved exclusively for approved sponsors of LTA 2026.

5.2 Delegates and non-sponsoring organisations may not:

  • Set up displays;
  • Promote products or services;
  • Host side-events; or
  • Engage in ambush marketing activities,

without the prior written consent of LegalTalk Africa.

6. Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability

6.1 Attendance at LTA 2026 is at the delegate’s own risk.

6.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, LegalTalk Africa shall not be liable for:

  • Any personal injury, illness, or loss sustained at the event (except where caused by gross negligence);
  • Loss, theft, or damage to personal property; or
  • Any indirect or consequential loss.

6.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where such exclusion is not permitted under applicable law.

7. Data Protection and Privacy

7.1 By registering for LTA 2026, delegates consent to the collection and processing of their personal information for purposes including:

  • Event administration;
  • Communication regarding the event;
  • Post-event engagement;
  • Marketing of future LegalTalk Africa events (unless opted out).

7.2 Personal information will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and LegalTalk Africa’s Privacy Policy.

7.3 Where applicable, limited delegate information may be shared with official event sponsors strictly for event-related engagement purposes.

8. Force Majeure

LegalTalk Africa shall not be liable for any delay, disruption, or cancellation resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters;
  • Government restrictions;
  • Public health emergencies;
  • Labour disputes;
  • Venue unavailability.

LegalTalk Africa reserves the right to reschedule, postpone, or convert the event format if necessary.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
